First let me say, thus far, my twenties have been pretty cool. I survived college, settled into a job and grew at a great company, bought a house and as we all know, married my lovely husband. Not too shabby. But of course, there is always more to be done.
I actually do have quite some time to do this, as I am still 26 for three more months, so we're looking at roughly three years to knock off the below items. Do you think I can do it? I think so.
Here is how I plan to make these last few years of my twenties roaring. :)
- Finish a 10K road race. Let’s hope I can do that one this spring or summer!
- Relax more. Stress less. Enough said?
- Go to Italy and Greece
- Get involved with something in my community. I'd love to coach a youth sport.
- Write and publish something. –This one is a big to-do. This blog may have to suffice for the time being.
- Go back to California to see Miss Foley before she moves back to the east (where she belongs) and visit my Dad in Florida as much as possible.
- Re-do our pantry to make it a laundry room and pantry.
- Build a back deck onto our house
- Host an annual holiday party – we started this one last year!
- And on that same note, host a family holiday dinner at our home..
- Add a very small in-ground pool to our yard. Billy will laugh when he reads this one. I might lose this battle, but I’ll try hard. A blow up kiddie pool might have to do if Billy has anything to say about it.
- Finding a way to return the amazing support given by our parents, siblings, family and friends through our entire wedding process. It takes an army to get through planning a wedding these days and I certainly felt like we had one helping us. I hope I can return the favor to you all one day!
- Going to bed by 10 PM every night. This one seems silly but Andy Cohen literally ruins my sleeping pattern. I love BRAVO and I love him, which often leads me to not falling asleep until 11:30 when his show is over..
- Learn how to use my stand mixer and food processor that we were given as wedding gifts. Would you believe it when I say I haven’t used either of these once? I know, it’s a crime to all woman-kind.
- Take a ballroom dance class. Billy would tell you that every time I watch Dancing with the Stars I start dancing around our house for the remainder of the evening, declaring that I should be on the show if they ever decide to have Dancing with the Normal People. One can dream, right?
- Dare I say this out loud…. (get pregnant) – WHEN I AM 30 – and remember, I am only 26. Let’s all relax.
- Get an SUV and a beach sticker. I think going to the beach might be one of my favorite things to do.
- Learn how to drive standard. Just because.
- I’ve talked about this one before, but get a vegetable garden going and try to actually keep the plants alive.
- Earn a Master’s Degree.
- Go Zip Lining.
- Drive to the Cape and see one of those lovely Great White sharks that have joined our New England shores.
- Learn to cook more Middle Eastern recipes… my Grandmother gave me one of her very own recipe books recently, which I am SO excited about. If I can cook any of them half as good as she did, I’ll be a happy woman.
- Watch all of the Godfather movies. Can you believe I’ve never seen them?
- Read more. This is one of those things that falls to the bottom of the totem pole when you work a lot and don’t get enough rest.
- Visit Manhattan once a year. I loveeee going to this city. And lucky for me, a good friend recently moved to Hoboken, which is right outside of the city, so this might be easier done than I think.
- Attend a talk show’s live taping. I would LOVE to go to the Ellen show, or Bethenny Frankel’s new show coming this fall, but any show would do.
- Go to Las Vegas. Billy said the other day that if he doesn’t go to Vegas before he turns 30 he has failed at life. 30th birthday party idea, Mr. Glynn?
- Officially change my name! I have been married for about 9 months now and have yet to formally change my name. I haven’t decided on how I want to do this, as I want to keep Omar somewhere, so I might be Amelia Carolyne Omar Glynn – too long? Probably? Who Cares.
- And lastly, staying happily married. I don’t plan to just do this until I’m 30, (of course), but I hope we’re still in the state we are in now, which is happily married and in love.
So that’s all for today. I feel tired just thinking about all of the above! But this was a fun one to think up. I am sure I’ll add things to the list as life changes throughout the next three years but this feels like a good starting point.
Here's to making whatever decade of life that you're in a roaring one!
