Dreaming of Color

As I mentioned in my post on Monday, I had a very odd but enlightening dream last weekend that caused me to wake up with an itch to head back to Benjamin Moore and repaint all of the rooms in my house. After a reality check I, of course, concluded that every room is a bit of a stretch, but I do have some big plans for a couple rooms.

Funny I should say this, but where else could my dream have led me, but to Pinterest? (If you read this post, you know what I mean) Yup, I said it. I’ve been scanning the site ever since, looking for some inspiration. And true to its form, Pinterest delivered.

After a lot of thought and consideration, I’ve decided to focus on three rooms for now.  Our dining room, upstairs bathroom and bedroom. We actually decided to leave the dining room and bathroom colors when we moved in to save some time and money, but we did already paint our bedroom. Second times a charm, right?

So dun, dun, dun, duuuuun, here is my board of inspiration for these rooms:

Dining Room:
At this very moment, our dining room is a very dark cranberry color, which I don’t hate, but I also don’t love it. The room is located on the side of the house that does not get a ton of sunlight, so sometimes it feels pretty dim. It is also the first room you enter when walking through our front door, so I want it to feel light and welcoming. The dark cranberry isn’t really accomplishing that.

Our dining room now:
My plan? Yellow. What color is friendlier than yellow? It is light, cheery and in my opinion, can really put one in a good mood. Here are some pictures I grabbed from Pinterest for inspiration:
Upstairs Bathroom:
I don’t actually have a picture to show you of our current upstairs bathroom, which is pretty normal right? How often does one grab a photo of the lavatory? HA. I will grab a “before” picture when I start the painting project. Anyways, I’m leaning towards soft grey, yellow and white. What do ya think? Again, I'm going for light and cheery.
Bedroom:
And lastly, our lovely bedroom. I go back and forth on this one because I really like the color we painted our bedroom (I'd call it a pastel green?), but it isn’t the color I pictured it to be. I was hoping for more of a sea foam blueish/greyish/green. I may just need to stain some of our furniture and update some of the accessories to achieve the feeling I’m going for, but either way, the below room (also found on Pinterest) really encompasses what I am trying to do:

I'll, of course, post some before and after pictures once I get these projects underway!

Happy coloring!
