Home Updates: Curb Appeal

Hello out there! I just want to start by saying thank you so much to everyone for your support surrounding yesterday’s blog post. The topic was kind of heavy, and I was of course, a little nervous to share such details, so I really appreciated everyone’s kind words and reactions. Sometimes this little blog can be the most therapeutic thing I do! It was also SO nice to share some details about my grandfathers.

Anyways, onto a much lighter topic today! Yard work.

In one of my very first postings, I talked a lot about my parent's home growing up and how meticulously polished they always kept the yard - and our personal goal to do the same with our yard. I also have mentioned a few times how Billy and I really signed up for a big yard-improvement project the day we bought our house. Did we know what we were getting ourselves into? I don't think so. But either way, we are learning a lot in and enjoying the challenge (I think? Maybe I shouldn't speak for Bill on this one).

Billy has been working his little tail off and my hat is off to him. He really is doing an excellent job. Within the past week, he has miraculously made grass grow in almost all of our yard’s bald spots, added a couple more mulch beds and cleaned up our very uneven patio. We’re alllllmost there with getting our yard to the place we want it to be. I never thought I’d say that, looking back on where we started.

Here are some before and after pictures of our progress. There is still work to be done, but I'm feeling like we're moving in the right direction:

This is where we started:
Where we are now. Still need some more grass seed, but better, right?

More pics and more updates on the way soon! This is one of those projects I know we'll be working on for years to come! But that is the lovely thing about owning a home.

Happy Thursday!
