Speaking of Caitlin’s wedding festivities, last weekend us bridesmaids (along with Luke and Caitlin's amazing parents) successfully threw her bridal shower, phewwww! I think I’m the only one in the bridal party that was on a maiden voyage as a bridesmaid, but let me just say that I think it is one of the most fun roles you can play.
I’m so honored that Cait and Luke asked me to be a part of their wedding and I am just loving planning and scheming with the other bridesmaids to make these last couple weeks of Cait’s single gal life as memorable as possible.
So with that, onto the shower we go! I think I can speak for the rest of the bridesmaids when I say that we are really pleased with how everything turned out. Caitlin had mentioned to her sister, Kerry, the MOH, months ago that she really wanted her shower to be at a homey type of place, rather than a restaurant. With all of us girls not feeling like we had a house to host the party just yet, we set out to find a venue that felt as homey and personal as possible. Our search led us to the amazing Daniel Webster Estate in Marshfield, which was perfect! It actually IS a house (turned Museum) and I really think it had that cozy feeling we were looking for.
Anyways, through our months of planning, we came up with a couple great ideas to tie Caitlin and Luke’s engagement story into the shower theme. The first was the favors. Luke proposed to Cait by putting her ring into a s’more while they were on a beach in Martha’s Vineyard. So cute, huh? Knowing that, we thought a little s’more kit would be a great shower favor.
Now onto Caitlin’s proposal to all of gals (to be her bridesmaids). It was actually one of the sweetest moments, as you could tell Cait was so nervous and excited. She had made her own homemade donuts and then stuck cute little signs in them that said “Will you be my bridesmaid?” – it was adorable! We, of course, all said yes and then took that donut idea and tied it into the shower.
Moving on from some of the arts and crafts, to the big day! We dropped a note off at Caitlin’s home Friday while she was at work letting her know her shower was the next day and then off we went to finalize everything for the next morning. Each of us had a role to prepare food and decorations and I think we all really worked like a well-oiled machine. Before we knew it, the room was ready to go, the food was cooked and the guests were starting to arrive.
For Caitlin’s arrival, we took advantage of the beautiful front porch that the venue had and asked all of the guests to come outside to greet her, which although probably a bit overwhelming for Cait, turned out to be perfect. She got out of the car looking like a bea-u-ti-ful bride to be and we all cried (or at least I did).
The rest of the day was filled with playing games like the Newlywed game (which Luke was dreading but actually did quite well at) and bingo as Cait opened her gifts.
Overall, the day was so much fun and fulfilling because Cait was glowing with happiness. Here are some more pictures of the day and decorations.
Next stop, her bachelorette party! Post and pics to come.
Cheers to the future Sullivan family!
