I figured that I’d start with the days and minutes leading up to the big moment, as I am a chronological order type of gal.
So let’s go back to one week before our big day, Friday, August 3rd, 2012, also known as the day my bridesmaids and best friends made me one of the happiest girls in all the land.
You see, this is the day (other than my wedding day) that I waited for all summer. The day my bachelorette party began. My girls had run a top-secret operation for months called, “Don’t Tell Amelia Anything About Her Bachelorette Party” and the mission was a complete success. I had absolutely no idea where we were going, who was joining us and what was planned. Now, I did mention in my first post that I am quite the little planner myself, so giving into this idea of having absolutely no control over the “plan” was a little (or a lot) scary for me, but you only live once, right?
So full of panic and all, I allowed my sister and friends to whisk me away one week before the big day and... It. Absolutely. Did. Not. Disappoint. I’m sure you’ve figured out by now, judging from the title of this post, that they took me to the Big Apple and let me tell you, it was ah-mazing.
The weekend started with a casual day of walking around the city to do some sightseeing. And by sightseeing, I mean celebrity-hunting. - Mission: unsuccessful. We concluded they were all in the Hamptons. From there, we spent the first night in our hotel playing games and drinking wine, which was perfect after a long day of travel.
Our Saturday agenda included a surprise, two-hour Sex and the City Tour (again - ah-mazing), a formal dinner at a Middle Eastern restaurant (they know me too well) and then a night that involved falling asleep in a diner at 4 AM with a veil on my head. #Classy
For me, one of the best parts of the trip was having (almost) all of my best friends all in one location for the first time in a while. Not only did my college roommates join us, but two of my best friends who live on opposite ends of the country flew into surprise me.
It was one of those weekends that will go down in the books as the best times I’ve ever had and I can’t think of a better way to have kicked off my last week as a “single” girl.
Here are a couple pictures of the weekend:

Here's to my sister and friends for putting together a weekend I’ll never forget. Cheers.
